The compact Raytek Thermalert GP infrared temperature sensor is designed to be paired with the Raytek Thermalert GP Monitor to form a versatile, two-piece temperature monitoring system that combines a compact, value-priced monitor with a rugged, accurate infrared sensing head. The Raytek Thermalert GP Monitor is sold separately.
The Raytek Thermalert GP infrared temperature sensor targets temperatures from -18 to 540ºC (0-1000ºF) with 1% accuracy and has a spectral response of 8-14 microns. Emissivity is adjustable from 0.1 to 1.09 in increments of 0.01. The Raytek Thermalert GP infrared temperature sensor is available without laser sighting (GPR Series) or with an integrated coaxial Class 2 laser connected to the remote activation switch box via the included 4 m (13 ft) cable (GPS Series). Both models of the Raytek Thermalert GP infrared temperature sensor are available with an optional close focus sensing head. For extreme environments, optional air/water cooled housing with air purge collar is also available.
Raytek infrared thermometers measure temperature from a distance by detecting the amount of thermal electromagnetic radiation emitted from the object being measured. This allows users to accurately measure surface temperatures in hazardous or hard-to-reach places, or other situations in which non-contact temperature measurement is desirable. Infrared thermometer technology is useful in a wide range of applications – including industrial, laboratory, food service, fire fighting, hobby and home use.
While the technology is relatively simple, the myriad of names given to these devices can be confusing. "Laser Thermometers" makes reference to the laser that helps aim the thermometer. "IR Sensors" and "IR Thermometers" make use of a common abbreviation for "infrared". "Non-Contact Thermometers" is descriptive of the device's ability to measure temperature from a distance. "Radiation Pyrometers" is a scientific/technical term for these devices.
